How social media is changing art
Social media are not only platforms for communication about art, they are also the subject of art itself. The use of social media offers many opportunities for better informing people interested in art.
Social media have dramatically changed media behavior in recent years. Readers are becoming authors, passive visitors are becoming actors. Consequently, companies, institutions, and even artists can no longer rely on one-way communication via classic mass media. People interested in art, customers and visitors no longer want to be fobbed off with marketing phrases. They are looking for direct dialog at eye level with the artist.
This change does not stop at cultural institutions – museums and galleries. In many countries, exhibition work and the corresponding information and advertising are already increasingly being carried out via social media.
