Momentum arises from a coherent unit
The various formal gestures and color areas I complement each with layers of material, collages, set initial compositional focal points, combine with further lines or glazing color accents, in my case with diluted paint or ink.
This almost ritualistic incorporation into my paintings usually lays the groundwork for the next steps with the emerging background. Working consciously at the same time and allowing for chance when working with different painting materials leads to a flowing process of quick decision making, destruction, reduction and rebuilding. And it is precisely this process that is the prerequisite for each individual work to grow into a strong unity, with all its archaic structures, with its many subtleties – and these impressive finesses and individual parts take on a life of their own in the detailed views.
